In-House REGISTRATION
2010/2011 School year
Saturday, November 7th, 12:00 noon – 2:00 PM
Because Christ Lutheran Preschool fills to capacity almost a year in advance, we want to ensure all of our current families a pre-registration opportunity for next September’s placement. On Saturday, November 7th, registration for Fall 2010 begins at 12:00 PM and will end at 2:00 PM. The south doors will open at 8:00 AM, and parents may line up to hand in your registration form in the order you enter the building. I will take class registration forms on a first come, first served basis, beginning at 12:00. Each registration form will be numbered and then processed in order. THERE WILL BE NO SIGN-UP SHEET POSTED ON THE DOOR. YOU MUST BE IN LINE WHEN THE DOORS OPEN.
Be assured that we can accommodate a spot for you – however, please be flexible with both a first choice and a second choice for class days/times. After you hand in your form, which will then be numbered, you are free to leave the building. Preschool staff will sign-up your children in numerical order. Class lists will be posted in the hallway Monday morning. A non-refundable $90 registration fee is required for all (returning and new) students. If you need a specific class, please be in line early. Many of our morning classes fill first. Attached is a comprehensive list for our class offerings. All current preschool and Tot Co-op parents, regardless of class dates or times, are invited to register on Saturday.
Additional Notes:
1. Please come with both first and second choice class preferences marked on your registration form. The registration procedure has been changed from past years. You only need to turn in your form to be numbered. The staff will then register your child in numerical order.
2 . Sign-up sheets will not be honored by the preschool. In the past, parents have posted sign-up sheets on the door or passed around sign-up sheets. You must remain in line.
3. A $90 registration fee is required to secure your child’s class selection. Please fill out an enrollment form available at the table for all NEW students.
4. There is no group sign-up. If you are unable to turn your form in you may send a separate representative. Each parent (or representative) may only turn a form in for immediate family members (no cousin/friend registration).
5. If you are unable to attend the registration Saturday, November 7th, you may place the registration form in the box on the cart in the hallway BEFORE NOVEMBER 7th, and a lottery system will determine your child’s class. These forms will be processed after November 7th but before the general public. The $90 Registration fee must accompany the form. Only one form is needed per family.
CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
The 3 year old programs
The focus of the 3 year old programs is separation from parents, social interaction, sharing, taking turns, transitioning between activities, independence, following directions, small motor development, large motor development, beginning perceptual and conceptual development (letters, numbers, shapes, colors, etc.) and language development. All classes are for children who love learning through play while having fun in a loving Christian environment.
Young 3’s Program
M/W/F AM or M/W/F PM; T/Th AM or T/Th PM
Our Tuesday/Thursday or Monday/Wednesday/Friday classes are designed for the younger child turning 3 years old between September 1st and December 31st or who might benefit from a smaller class and a more intimate preschool experience. The Tuesday/Thursday schedule gently introduces preschool to your child, while the Monday-Wednesday-Friday schedule invites familiarity and routine for your child to adjust a little bit faster to preschool. The class generally accommodates only 8 children and follows the 3-year old curriculum in content and pace.
Main 3’s Program
M/W/F AM or M/W/F PM; T/Th AM or T/Th PM
These classes are for children who are 3 years old before September 1st. The Tuesday/Thursday schedule gently introduces preschool to your child. If your child is actively involved in outside sports, gymnastics or playgroups – this is the class for you. The 5-day span from Thursday to Tuesday allows for a longer weekend and extra curricular activities. The Monday-Wednesday-Friday patterned time schedule helps children adjust quicker to preschool while allowing more time during the week for learning and fun!
The Young 4 year old programs
These programs continue the “learning while having fun” focus with more hands-on experiences through perceptual and conceptual development, large and small motor skills, observation skills and continued personal and social development. These programs guide your child’s learning through exploration, discovery, art and play. Activities include math, science, language arts, music, spiritual enrichment and art. We offer many experiences that stimulate children’s curiosity.
M/W/F AM or M/T/Th AM
The young 4’s program is similar in curriculum and content to the 3-day Pre-K class, but at a more relaxed pace. The young 4’s class offers a warm and inviting environment for children who are turning 4 between September 1st and December 31st. The morning class is a more intimate environment (class size approximately 9 students), while the afternoon class provides a larger classroom experience.
The Pre-Kindergarten Programs
The Pre-Kindergarten classes are for children who are in their last year of preschool before entering Kindergarten. The classes emphasize the creative process of learning through hands-on experiences in science, math and language arts. The children play and experiment with actual objects: holding, touching, comparing, graphing, drawing and cutting. The children explore the world around them in many ways. These comprehensive Kindergarten readiness programs concentrate on whole child development. These classes are for children turning 4 before September 1st.
3-Day Pre-Kindergarten Program
M/W/F AM or M/W/F PM; T/W/Th AM
The (Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday) midweek class is ideal for children (and parents) who love a long weekend! This class is structured to have three consecutive days of preschool to form a continuity of learning. The alternating schedule (Monday-Wednesday-Friday) is designed for children who may enjoy outside activities in the middle of the week.
4-Day Pre-Kindergarten Program
Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday PM
The 4-day per week program provides an alternative to the 3-day and 5-day schedule. These students will be in class with the 5-Day students Monday through Thursday.
5-Day Pre-Kindergarten Program
Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday-Friday (AM or PM)
This 5-day per week program prepares your child for a 5-day Kindergarten schedule. It provides additional time each week for your child to experience even more science, math and language arts before entering Kindergarten. This continuity of coming to preschool every day enhances the relationship between teacher and student.
