Sunday Supper & Scripture

Come and BRING A FRIEND for Soup, Sandwiches and Study on January 15, 22, 29 and Feb. 12 from 5:45-7:45 pm at the church. Each week, we’ll watch a 5 minute DVD introduction titled “It Starts with One”. Then, using Acts 1-6 as a basis, we’ll wrestle with what it means today to be the church; how our culture is not so very different from that of the early faith community. We’ll grow in faith as we discern what an important part each of us plays in the mission Jesus clearly left for his followers! Finally, we will develop some practical strategies on how to share His gospel kindly, yet boldly. Please sign up with Pastor Sue Ellen, Group Leader, or on the bulletin board by January 11, 2012.

Feed My Starving Children

We will share the Good News of the Lord byusing our time & talents to help the needy on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012 from 9-11 a.m. in Schaumburg.

Please help us by volunteering to pack food for the poor. The sign-up sheet is located across from the mailboxes.

Deadline for the Call

…is the 15th of each month. Please email all articles to the church office at christlutheranvh@aol.com before that date. Ministry Chairs, please remember to submit a monthly article to Laurie informing the congregation on the great work of your ministry.

Property & Grounds for December 2011

This past month saw the following activity:

  • Outside groundwork related to one Eagle project was done during the past month. Small items that were on the task list remain to be completed.
  • No further word was received from scout working on Pastor Sue Ellen office renovation. The Scout working on painting the Great Room and teacher’s workroom is still developing his plan. He missed our last scheduled meeting. Most likely his work will get pushed to Spring 2012.
  • Light bulbs throughout were replaced. Toilet seat in girls’ bathroom was replaced.
  • One emergency light battery replaced. Awaiting purchase authorization at local stores for remaining batteries needed. About $19 a piece.
  • Meeting with snow removal company to discuss winter plan.
  • One scout from my troop may be looking for Eagle project.

ATTENTION CLC BOWLERS

Our next bowling date is Sun., Dec.18th. Due to a conflict with the gathering at Pastor Sue’s, we will be bowling at 1:00pm. We will return to our regular bowling time of 5:00pm when we bowl on Sun., Jan. 15th.

If you can’t be present to bowl at any time, please prebowl or find a sub. If you know ahead of time, let Josh Ravenscraft (joshanddiane98@sbcglobal.net) or Mir Pawlak (mir_wyoming@ yahoo.com) know and they can give you a list of subs or we can make an announcement that subs are needed. It really is more fun when we have full teams, so we ask that you make an effort to be there or find a sub. Please remember, you are responsible for paying the league whether you are present or not. We’ve been notified by the bowling alley that we are behind on our dues, so it is important that everyone is current in their payments. If you are unsure how much you owe, contact Mir, our treasurer/secretary.
