Caring Hands

Mark your calendars so you don’t miss any of the fun and fellowship...

Caring Hands will meet on the following Saturdays from 9:30 to 1:30 to work on blankets for Project Linus, prayer shawls, Guideposts sweaters for kids, and more: May 3 & June 14. Saturday, May 3rd, will be very special as we will be hosting our second JOIN HANDS DAY funded by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. Last year we had 55+ people turn out to work on all kinds of blankets for Project Linus. Lunch will be provided that day. We’re hoping for just as many and just as much fun this year so please plan to join us. If you have any questions, please contact Ingrid Amberg at 847-566-1818 or Donna Clark at 847-541-2546.

During the evening, you will have ample opportunity to view a wide variety of amazing baskets and place bids on your favorites. There will be something for adults and children of all ages!

Volunteers wanted
In order to make our Silent Auction a huge success, we are in need of individuals to distribute donation letters to local businesses. Perhaps you could take a letter to your employer for a cash donation or to your favorite restaurant for a donation of a gift certificate. Donation letters can be found in the narthex or church office. If you have any questions, please call Deb Barnstable at 847-279-0253 or Penni Sauer at 847-541-6805.

Help Our Youth

CLC's youth has an ongoing fundraising program in cooperation with Phoneraiser.com. We are collecting used cell phones and ink cartridges. Phoneraiser now collects used mp3 players, handheld video games and digital cameras. This is new and we can get a 15% bonus. Also, during the Earth Day campaign, the Phonerasier partner who sends in the most cell phones by April 18th will win $1000. We're small, but you never know. Proceeds will benefit all our youth programs. If you have any questions , please feel free to call Penni Sauer at 224-628 5774.

Mission Trip to Mattoon, IL

It is not too late for your Jr./Sr. High School student to signup for the Land of Lincoln Work Camp in Mattoon, IL. We will be leaving on Sunday June 22, and returning on Saturday, June 28.

The good news is there will be 22 church groups bringing 430 people to work on 70-80 homes in the Mattoon area. In addition, the following Christ Lutheran Church adults will be attending:

  • Pastor Sue Beadle-Chaperone
  • Tom Pfenning-Site Coach
  • Melody James-Chaperone
  • Rod Beadle-Site Coach
  • Bob Amberg-Chaperone
  • Donna Clark-Café Hostess
  • Penni Sauer-Chaperone
  • Rene` Clark-Camp Director

This work camp promises to be a great experience as the co-sponsor is a local Church and we will be helping people who live in Illinois. Encourage your student to sign up for this opportunity to help others who are less fortunate. Please see either Pastor Sue or Rene` Clark for additional information.
